As someone who suffered a lot of anxiety, I would recommend HtK Therapy (although, I understand that even setting an appointment and showing up can be very scary in the beginning if you’re an anxious person, but you’ll soon learn that there is no need to be afraid).
I used to be my own worst enemy – very highly self-critical and fearful of not being good enough. Over time it started to affect me physically too. After experiencing severe heart palpitations, I realized I needed help and put my pride aside. Online, I found HtK Therapy and reached out.
From the very beginning, the experience felt different: no pressure, no labels, and no judgment. I was allowed to talk and simply be myself, which was honestly harder than it sounds. I admit, I started therapy with some skepticism. Not because I doubt therapy as a field, but because I truly believed I couldn’t be helped.
What therapy did for me wasn’t to erase problems – life will always have challenges – but it helped me with my perspective of the world and of myself. I stopped seeing it from a self-destructive point of view and because of that there is now space in my mind for growth, for me to explore my own identity and life itself without crippling, paralyzing fear. It was definitely challenging at times because you have to be honest not only with your therapist, but also with yourself.
To anyone seeking therapy, I wish you good luck. You can do it! And if you’re considering HtK Therapy, I genuinely think it’s a awesome place and you will feel safe and taken seriously here. Especially when you’re afraid, like I was before I started, and if you don’t know what to say, what to talk about, what exactly it is you need help with and what might be expected of you – all you know is that you need some help. Give it a chance like I did and reach out. I’m happy I did and definitely recommend.
