Reimbursement
The treatments I offer fall under Basic Mental Healthcare (Basis GGZ) and are reimbursed through the basic health insurance. This means that, after paying your deductible, you are always entitled to reimbursement if you have a Dutch health insurance policy. A referral from your general practitioner is required for this. The amount of reimbursement depends on your health insurer and policy and typically ranges between 60% and 85%. I use the rates established by the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) (see table below). The percentage mentioned by your insurer often refers to a percentage of the"average contracted rate":by this, they usually mean about 85% of the NZa rate. As a result, your actual reimbursement will be lower than the 85% you may initially expect.
I have a contract with Zilveren Kruis Achmea, which also includes De Friesland, De Christelijke Zorgverzekeraar, Interpolis, and FBTO. If you are insured with one of these providers, the treatment will be fully reimbursed after payment of your deductible.
Hardship Clause
Are you insured with one of the health insurers with whom I do not have a contract, and is the high out-of-pocket contribution a barrier for you to receive treatment with me? If so, you can report this to your health insurer and request a higher reimbursement through the so-called hardship clause. The insurer can then make customized arrangements based on your personal situation.
Waitlist Mediation
If the waiting lists at contracted providers are very long and you would therefore prefer to receive treatment with me, you can ask your health insurer for waitlist mediation. If the waiting time at a comparable contracted provider is longer than 14 weeks (the so-called Treeknorm), you may qualify for 100% reimbursement by your insurer. You can read more about that here.
Uninsured care
It is possible that there is no DSM-V diagnosis or a diagnosis that is not covered by insured care, such as an adjustment disorder or relationship problems. In that case, you will pay a rate of €138.15 (per 45-minute session), as determined by the Dutch Healthcare Authority for 2025. Sometimes partial reimbursement is possible from the supplementary insurance.
